Accessibility

Statement

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), Archuleta County, Colorado will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities. Archuleta County strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities and has invested a significant amount of resources to help ensure that our website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities. To the best of our ability, we carry through on our belief that website accessibility efforts assist all users and that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

Archuleta County Compliance

Archuleta County regularly runs audits using screen reader technology and manual hands-on, page-by-page compliance checks. If at any time, any user has found a page or document to not be fully accessible, Archuleta County kindly requests the individual inform us right away so we can work to remedy the issue. Our team of four, “Team Accessibility”, consists of one Administration member, one IT Specialist, and the Communications Specialist (acting ADA Coordinator). In the Spring of 2024, a Digital Accessibility Coordinator was added to the team. In addition, over 20 employees within the county are trained on the CommonLook software platform designed for both Word and PowerPoint. CommonLook guides associates in building accessible documents from the ground up and furthers the county’s knowledge towards 100% compliance.

County ADA & Digital Accessibility Coordinators

As of March 2024, Archuleta County employs three members of current staff acting as “Team Accessibility”. All members are trained in the CommonLook PDF, Office, and PowerPoint remediation software programs. In addition to working on the backend of the website, the team works to remediate documents currently offered on the site, and ones provided by staff that are required for the site.

Any of the four members may aid persons with disabilities who wish to engage or participate in County programs, services, and activities as fully as those without disabilities. They also help other County departments to ensure their programs, services, and activities, satisfy the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
